General Statement of Duties

Henrico Innovative Learning Coaches (ILC) work collaboratively with teachers and leaders to implement evidence-based instructional practices that promote innovation and the purposeful use of technology to support Life Ready outcomes for all students.  Their work is guided by Henrico’s strategic plan and the Educational Technology Plan for Virginia.  Each ILC jointly supports a school(s) and the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation, serving as an instructional coach, professional developer, and innovative leader. These efforts represent a significant contribution to the organizational culture necessary for the progression of the Profile of a Virginia Graduate and the Henrico Learner Profile. 


Essential Duties
  • Support implementation of Henrico’s strategic plan including Aligned Curriculum, HCPS Instructional Model, Ongoing Professional Learning, within the school and across the division. 
  • Support implementation of the VDOE Educational Technology Plan; including Learning (Instructional Coaching), Teaching (Professional Learning), Leading (Innovative Leadership) and Infrastructure (Access and Safety), within the school and across the division.
  • Support the integration of the Virginia Digital Learning Integration (DLI) standards and the Computer Science (CS) standards into teacher design of instruction and division level curriculum.
  • Partner with educators, leaders, students and families to develop greater Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship demonstrated via the HCPS Safety Plan, Digital Citizenship & Internet Safety plan within the school.
  • Participate in and support the creation and implementation of a school plan for innovation that supports the school's School Quality plan and goals.
  • Support school-wide professional learning planning, facilitation and documentation within the school.
  • Implements formalized coaching cycles that support teachers ability to design, deliver, and assess learning experiences that promote innovation and the purposeful use of technology within the school.
  • Provides instructional support to promote student achievement through co-planning, identifying, designing, modeling, co-teaching, interpreting data, reflection, and analyzing feedback collaboratively with teachers.
  • Engages in continuous professional learning to stay abreast of national and state standards, current trends and issues related to best practice.
  • Regularly evaluate and reflect on professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen effectiveness to fulfill the ILC roles.
  • Support minor troubleshooting, fair share responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.

Additional Information

This position has a 239-day contract with a July 20, 2026 start date. The minimum salary for this 11-month position is $68,227 with a bachelor's degree. Annual salary will be prorated based upon actual work begin date.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • A Virginia teaching license is required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community
  • Evidence of coaching and/or training experience
